SC Pirates ready for playoffs
Doug Jones, SC Pirates co-captain, talks about the upcoming championship games, as well as the support the team has received its first year from the people, businesses and organizations in the community of Little River and the greater Grand Strand.
Jones also mentions a few of the local area organizations and charities the team has generously helped or promoted this season.
The playoffs are on Mother's Day at the Sports Zone where local singing sensation Gabbie Rae will be performing and, during half-time, the players will be introducing their Moms to the audience.
Annual Victory Over Violence auction held at Revolutions
Greg Rowles, pictured at left with event organizer Hailey Davis, emceed the annual Victory Over Violence live and silent Basket auction at Revolutions night club at Broadway at the Beach.Pianists from Crococile Rocks were the featured entertainment for the event.
The auction was hosted by the Grand Strand Junior Women's Club, with all proceeds benefitting CASA (Citizen's Against Spousal Abuse).

Conway National Bank opens new branch on Hwy 9
Conway National Bank celebrated the Grand Opening of its 14th branch location on Highway 9 recently.Myrtle Beach TV talked with the bank president while capturing some of the Grand opening fun and festivities.
Little River incorporation effort questioned
An ad hoc commmittee that's spent many months researching the feasibility of incorporating Little River held the first in a series of town hall meetings for Little River residents to talk about the pros and cons of incorporating.The unincorporated area of Little River has undergone many incorporation attempts over the past several decades, all without success.
Within just the past 10 years, however, a rapid succession of changes have strained the previously more serence setting of life for Little River residents, namely the Las Vegas style gambling boats and plans for Myrtle Beach style high-rise condo projects. Veterans and others help promote POWs awareness
This past weekend, myrtle beach TV talked with Bill Holland of the Vietnam's Veteran's Association at Choppers Sports Bar and Grill on Restaurant Row in Myrtle Beach.The fundraising event for American soldiers fighting for our freedom who've been left behind on foreign soil was also co-promoted by local motorcycle fundraising group Rolling Thunder.
The event featured one of the most in-demand local rock bands, the Sick Stooges.

North Myrtle Beach Chamber hands out awards
The North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce held its 8th Annual Dinner at the Surf Club in North Myrtle Beach, where its leaders handed out four awards to deserving locals.Awards presented were for Ambassador of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and the Distinguished Service Award.

Jordan moved into his position on March 3rd, 2008.He and wife Vicky relocated to our beach from Lynchburg, Virginia, and we talked with them at the chamber offices during his first week of work at the chamber.
